I agree with everything you say, that quote from Jesus that you reference says it all really, I think you are referring to: "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." (Matthew 6:34), but there are others that give a similar message. Jesus is right, we are best placed to tackle our present struggles if we are actually able to be present to address them and not lose ourselves through fixating on the future or the past.
I also think my relationship with Jesus/God is strengthened by my being present to communicate with them. When I'm worrying about the past or future, my mind is too clouded by anxiety or fear to even think about praying!
Anyway, sorry to ramble on, I appreciate your comment and it got me thinking, in a good way! I hope you are keeping well : )
